Recycling initiative funds chairs for teachers

In Ghana, many children drink water from plastic sachets. To help reduce litter and tackle the ongoing challenges of plastic waste disposal, we provided the pupils with collection sacks for the empty sachets. Once filled, these sacks are sent to Trashy Bags, where the plastic is recycled into new products. The funds raised from selling the collected sachets allowed the pupils to buy a comfortable swivel chair for their teacher—an initiative entirely driven by the children!

Teacher Development in Action – OneSeed Partnership

Through our partnership with OneSeed, 20 teachers from our partner school, Future Leaders School, recently took part in a targeted teacher development session. The training focused on classroom management, student engagement, effective teaching strategies, and integrating ICT into daily lessons.

New partnership provides fresh water for students

We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with Pan African Water Solutions (PAWS) who supply water to our donor network and now are providing mineral water to students in our partner schools.  The water is distributed to students during our after-school sessions providing them with clean and safe drinking water for each session.

Volunteering in Ghana

For the past few weeks, we’ve been hosting a volunteer couple from the UK, Jessica and Andy.  They are staying for three months and during that time they are volunteering at the Future Leaders School as well as taking some time to explore the wonderful country that is Ghana.

Futurestars UK launch on Jan 25th

The official UK launch for the Futurestars charity will take place on 25th January 2018 at 7pm in The Sir Bobby Robson Suite at Ipswich Town Football Club.
The UK launch is the first step to make everyone aware of the Charity plans and start to spread the word about the work Futurestars are doing in Ghana and Togo and plans for 2018 and beyond.

Simon Milton, Futurestars Director will be leading the evening and showcasing the website and new video, recently filmed and edited by Suffolk university student William Allen. The video gives an overview of the project and involves the Schools and Schoolchildren in Tema and Lome.

Invited guests and clients will be treated to a full presentation to see exactly what has been achieved so far. Welcome drinks supplied by Sumaridge Wines and refreshments will be served and the Trustees will also be on hand to chat and answer questions, including Gary Miller (OMA director and founder), Terry Butcher (ex England captain) and Ambassador and Lead Coach Titus Bramble (ex Ipswich & Newcastle FC).
