Three years ago, Janet Adjel began her Senior High School journey at Ghanata Senior High School with a clear goal and the support of the Futurestars Charity Scholarship Programme.
Her journey with Futurestars Charity began earlier, when she was a Class 5 learner at Future Leaders School. At the time, financial challenges placed her education at risk.
Through the generosity of Futurestars Charity donors, Janet was able to remain in school. She went on to graduate as the highest-performing student in her year group before continuing her education at Senior High School.
Her three years at Ghanata Senior High School were made possible through the support of Natasha Lunnis and her friends, who chose to support Janet through the Futurestars Charity Scholarship Programme.
That support has now reached an important milestone.
Janet has successfully completed all three years of Senior High School and is awaiting her final results.
As the first Futurestars Charity Scholarship Programme beneficiary to complete Senior High School, Janet’s achievement represents an important milestone for both her and the wider Futurestars community.
Her journey demonstrates what can happen when financial barriers are reduced and young people are given the opportunity to remain in school and pursue their ambitions.
For the donors who supported Janet, their contribution represents more than financial assistance. It helped provide a young person with the opportunity to continue her education and work towards a future shaped by her own aspirations.
Janet is the first, but she will not be the last.
