Schoolbooks to Africa Appeal Launches

A huge thank you to Copleston High School and Fendercare Marine for the fantastic donation to kickstart our Schoolbooks for Africa Appeal.

With the growth of online teaching materials and the move to a new building later this year, Copleston HIgh School is donating educational textbooks to Futurestars so they can benefit children thousands of miles away.  Copleston teacher Marc Lloyd said: “With the move to the new building, we have a requirement to strip down any unneeded resources and we had a whole cupboard load of textbooks that were no longer required.  What began as a pile of books soon started to grow…”

Thanks to the generosity of Futurestars corporate donors Fendercare Marine, the school now have a complete 20ft container to fill and are aiming to donate over 10,000 books, with pupils volunteering their time to list and load the books into the container

Simon Milton, Futurestars charity director said:
I am delighted that Copleston High School has once again decided to support Futurestars in 2020, having previously donated to our 2018 and 2019 Kit Amnesties.  This huge effort will allow us to create libraries in each of our partner schools in Ghana which is fantastic.  We are indebted to the school and its pupils for their amazing drive and determination to help, and to the team at Fendercare who have once again provided us with a container to store the books and then ship out to Ghana where it will be put to good use!
