Every time we visit Ghana our time is packed full of things we want to do and people we need to see. We have so many schools, projects, donors, authorities and potential donors to see that we never seem to have enough time. Titus and I will normally go our separate ways as he spends time with the Schools and our Coaches Wilson & Silas. I will head to meetings with Project Manager Emmanuel and make sure we update everyone on the latest developments for the Charity and its strict compliance guidelines. BUT….. There is always time for football!
Not just any football, this is the donors, coaches, BHC FC and anyone else who wants to play football! So we always try to have a game together – a friendly but highly competitive game where adults involved in our charity get the chance to showcase their skills. There is something about football that brings people together and by organizing games like this, it helps to enhance our relationships with everyone involved in the project. If the game is too one-sided we change the teams at half time, we want a fair and competitive game at all times.
This last game on January 19th had everything that is good in football, great goals, great saves and a competitive edge. The final result is never important, the friendship and fun we have during these games is far more important than that. A special mention has to go to Emmanuel for his 20yd overhead kick in the second half, it was an amazing goal which got everyone to their feet! Moments like that are what the game is about and the smile on his face was there for the rest of the day.
