We would like to inform our donors, friends & associates of our decision to suspend activities in all five Futurestars Partner Schools in Ghana and the Cacavelli school in Togo following the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and the measures taken by the Ghanaian and Togolese governments to attempt to stop the spread.
In Ghana we are following the guidelines set out by the Ghanaian government & Education services and have therefore stopped all training at the schools (closed since March 15th) and academies and postponed the Futurestars League matches.
The Futurestars charity teams will use this time to review the whole schools project, and as part of our ongoing strategy make proposals for 2020 and beyond. In Ghana we are also going to work with our friends at Akwaaba Volunteers through this difficult time. With support from Volta Sports, Akwaaba recently put together together sanitation packs for the children and we have been building extra taps around Labadi area and educating the children how to use them so they can wash their hands when out and about. Our team will support this initiative in every way possible including using the new Futurestars minibus to transport the Akwaaba volunteers, children, water, packs and equipment where required.
The Ghana and Lomé teams will keep us updated with the latest information and guidance from the authorities and we will update you as and when things change.
The priority of the Futurestars charity during this unprecedented time is to protect and support the health and wellbeing of our partner schools including the teachers, coaches and 4000 children within the project.
