Futurestars and partners Ipswich Town Foundation are delighted to announce that a total of £37,415.02 was raise. This figure will be split between the two charities with both receiving £18,707.51.
Town stars of the past were among a group of more than 40 cyclists that completed a 160 mile charity cycle ride through Suffolk in June. Futurestars director Simon Milton along with Terry Butcher, Matt Holland, Titus Bramble, Kieron Dyer and Luke Varney were part of the group.
Day one of the trip began at Portman Road early Sunday morning before travelling up through the Suffolk countryside with stops at Eye Co-op, The Black Swan in Homersfield and The Swan in Loddon before finishing at Potters Resort in Hopton-On-Sea.
Day two kicked off at 9am with multiple stops throughout the day whilst travelling down the Suffolk coast including the seafront at Southwold, Fishers Gin in Aldeburgh, Plough & Sail at Snape before crossing via ferry from Bawdsey to Felixstowe. The group arrived back at Portman Road at 5:30pm.
“We are absolutely delighted to see the final total announced for each charity partner from the Tour of Suffolk Cycle Ride 2022,” said Ipswich Town Foundation’s Head of Business & Operations, Sarah Dooley.
“A huge thank you to all the riders who took part; to complete 150 miles in 2 days is an incredible effort, and all with smiles on their faces! A further thank you to all our sponsors and local businesses who supported throughout the ride with vehicles, snacks, drinks, and lunches. The near £19,000.00 raised will support Ipswich Town Foundation’s work in Suffolk and the surrounding counties, allowing us to reach and support more disadvantaged young people. We look forward to announcing the 2023 event very soon!”
“It was a tough cycle ride but we had a great team and support team, and we all crossed the finish line together,” added Town legend and Futurestars Director, Simon Milton.
“The generosity in such difficult times has been phenomenal. We’re really grateful that so many people have been able to help us. It’s been a fabulous effort from everyone. A huge thank you to all the cyclists and the tremendous fundraising efforts and a huge shout out to:
