A morning to remember, and repeat! This weekend we hosted 40 children, 20 from our Futurestars Academy and 20 from Akwaaba Volunteers Street to Soccer programme.
A fantastic morning of football for under 10s, and the Akwaaba team’s first away match ever (they sang all the way there and all the way back by all accounts).
Thanks to the generous donations we receive from St Nicholas School, after the match every child was fed nutritious Gari Soakings – a mixture of Gari (cassava flakes), milk and sugar along with doughnuts/bread – the children were hungry after some excellent football!
The children playing were selected not just on their footballing skills, but their commitment to school, teamwork and discipline. A fantastic reward for their hard work and as always great to work alongside our friends at Akwaaba – charities working together to change lives in Ghana.
