Futurestars Charity Brings Breast Cancer Awareness to New Partner School

More than 250 pupils engaged in health education as Futurestars Charity welcomes Community 11 Complex Primary School into its growing network of partner schools.

On Monday, 26 October 2026, Futurestars Charity held a breast cancer awareness and health education session at Community 11 Complex Primary School, its new partner school, engaging more than 250 upper primary boys and girls in an important conversation about cancer, breast health and early detection.

The session was delivered by Futurestars Charity’s nurse, alongside two other health nurses, who educated the pupils on cancer, its causes and warning signs, breast self-examination, and the importance of early detection and seeking appropriate medical advice when unusual changes are noticed.

As part of the initiative, close to 30 girls also received free breast screening, reinforcing the importance of breast health awareness and access to appropriate medical guidance.

Beyond the classroom, the initiative aims to equip children with the knowledge and confidence to share important health messages with their friends and families. By encouraging pupils to pass on what they have learned, Futurestars Charity seeks to extend breast cancer awareness beyond the school and into the wider community.

The initiative was welcomed by Madam Eunice, the Tema Metro SHEP representative, who expressed her excitement about the pupils gaining this knowledge and highlighted its potential to benefit them beyond the classroom.

Welcoming Community 11 Complex Primary School as a new partner school reflects Futurestars Charity’s continued commitment to supporting children and the communities around them. Through its work in education, sport and wider wellbeing, the charity seeks to create opportunities for children to learn, develop and thrive.

Futurestars Charity extends its sincere appreciation to the three health nurses who delivered the session, the Tema Metro SHEP team, and the staff of Community 11 Complex Primary School for their support in making the initiative possible.

As we mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are reminded that awareness begins with education. By equipping children with knowledge they can share, we can help important health messages reach more families and encourage people to seek appropriate medical care when they need it.
