We are delighted to announce that Futurestars has taken on two new interns in Ghana. Both young men have been part of the charity since the start and exemplify everything we are trying to achieve – well done!
Godwin Dagadu has been part of the Akwaaba Volunteers Street 2 School soccer project since its inception in 2016. When he completed junior high school he was awarded a Street 2 School scholarship, partly funded by Futurestars, allowing him to attend senior high school. Now 18, he’s completed high school and has turned his attention to giving back to the community, one of the lessons we hope Street 2 School instills in all of our participants.<
Godwin now coaches the U8 squad, trains with the u18 team, helps out with teaching at Street 2 School every Monday and has the job of ensuring the Future Leaders children get the bus to school every morning.
His aim is to become a licensed coach and he also has an interest in carpentry which he would like to be able to learn in his spare time
Caleb Rockson was a pupil at Community 8/No.1 Primary School, one of the Futurestars partner schools in Tema. He was in Class 6 when the charity organised its first ever sports festival in the Community 7/No.1 School and was part of the football team that won the boys competition that year.
He is 19 years old now and has just finished his high school education at the Tema Technical Institute after nine years of education at our Community 8/No.1 School. Caleb has always shown an interest in coaching and always volunteered to help the charity coaches during his school breaks at the Tema Stadium for our after-school sessions. Officially, he joined the Futurestars Charity coaching team in January 2022 with the aim of persuing his ambitions of becoming a licenced coach and also attaining a degree in Sports & Psychology.
