A recent visit by pupils from Baatsona School to our partners at Trashy Bags has made a wonderful impact.
In Ghana, many children drink water from plastic sachets. To help reduce litter and tackle the ongoing challenges of plastic waste disposal, we provided the pupils with collection sacks for the empty sachets. Once filled, these sacks are sent to Trashy Bags, where the plastic is recycled into new products.
The funds raised from selling the collected sachets allowed the pupils to buy a comfortable swivel chair for their teacher—an initiative entirely driven by the children! Our goal is now that by the end of 2027, every teacher in our six partner schools will be sitting on a proper chair (new or nearly new), replacing the wooden chairs many have used for decades.
Some of our generous donors have already pledged to match the children’s fundraising by donating an additional chair for every one the pupils fund. If you would like to support the children’s efforts, please get in touch with us.
