Baatsona School at the first UK-Ghana Sports Day

On 25 November 2025, the British High Commission hosted its first-ever UK–Ghana Sports Day at the Accra Sports Stadium, in collaboration with the National Sports Authority.

Twenty-four pupils from our partner school, Baatsona Basic School in Tema, were selected by their teachers to take part and experience the excitement, teamwork, and vibrant atmosphere of the event.

Our students spent the day watching live sporting activities, cheering enthusiastically from the stands, trying out new sports, and joining fans in supporting athletes and their favourite teams. For many, it was their first time inside a national stadium—an experience they’re sure to treasure for years.

The event was proposed as a warm-up to major upcoming sporting events—including the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the 2026 World Cup, AFCON 2025, WAFCON 2026, and more—the day was packed with fun, friendly matches, sports exhibitions, engaging challenges, and mini-games that brought together sport and cultural exchange.
