Meet Doris (Aka Asamoah). We first met Doris in 2019 when Netball Development Trust – Making A Difference Through Netball came to Ghana to introduce netball to more schools and
during the pandemic Doris was one of the first girls to join the Street 2 School netball team.
In 2021 the girls were given the chance to do 3 days of training in a vocational skill and she chose sewing and she made fantastic progress in those three days and told us she would love to further her skills. During the Easter holidays we enrolled her in Fashion School so during the school holidays she has the opportunity to learn something she loves, gain more skills, has a safe place to nurture her talent as well as training. Watch this space!
Every term we try to visit the parents of the street to school children we work with to check on their progress at school and see their report cards, update emergency contact information, make sure they are being helpful at home, and to give the parents feedback about training and for them to ask us any questions. We want to make sure all our projects are in line with the community aims and this is a great way to get their feedback too. A long but very rewarding day!
