Gary is Suffolk born and bred. A life-long Ipswich Town supporter, no one has greater pride in his Suffolk roots than he does. From humble beginnings earning his stripes as a dock runner in the port of Felixstowe, business success in shipping & logistics in West Africa followed. Gary likes doing business, and good business. He is particularly keen to see people identify and develop their talents to become successful in their own right. Thanks to his success in business, Gary is keen to give something back via a charity which helps children in West Africa develop their sporting abilities and greatly enhance their quality of life.

SIMON MILTON

DIRECTOR & TRUSTEE

Simon joined Ipswich Town as a player in 1987 and went on to play 330 games scoring 56 goals. He was part of the team that won the Second Division Championship and promoted to the inaugural Premier League in 1992. He was voted Ipswich Town’s player of the season in 1996 and retired in 1998. After 19 years working for the Ipswich Town Academy Simon was appointed Futurestars director in 2017. He has visited West Africa many times over the last few years and is the driving force behind the expansion of the project

BRYAN KING

TRUSTEE

Bryan is a Shipping and logistics manager and has worked in the industry for the past 45 years. It was through shipping that Bryan met fellow trustee Gary Miller. “A friendship began and on one of our many sporting days out, the basic idea of Futurestars was formed. I have visited Ghana and Togo on numerous occasions and have first hand knowledge of the difference the charity can make to the lives and wellbeing of the local children.” Bryan has been involved in coaching junior football from under 8 up to senior level and is an avid supporter of Ipswich Town.”

GERALDINE CLARKE

TRUSTEE

Geraldine is Head of Year 7 at Alde Valley Academy, Leiston, Suffolk where she also teaches English and History. Geraldine’s teaching career has been varied involving roles in both the private and state sectors with varying levels of responsibility. She is passionate about excellent education for all as she believes in the power of education to create opportunities and change lives.

WILLIAM ALLEN

TRUSTEE

After leaving the British Army in 2016, Will continued his military service as a Reservist, alongside studying at the University of Suffolk.  During this period, Will was invited to produce the charity’s first promotional video in 2017.  Following the success of the charity’s UK launch at Portman Rd, Will returned to Ghana in 2018. Alongside his previous employment as a Course Director at the College of West Anglia, Will took every opportunity to continue supporting the charity. Having realised his passion for sport, education, charitable initiatives, and the positive development of young people, Will is currently employed by the Duke of Edinburgh Award as the Operations Officer for Suffolk.

 

PAUL MILTON

COMPANY SECRETARY - TREASURER

Whilst not a trustee, Paul is company secretary and treasurer for Futurestars and handles all finances including gift aid, banking, and preparing the management and annual accounts. He is an accountant with over 40 years experience, working in managerial roles at two regional accountancy practices. Paul has acted for charities previously and was keen to help when approached by his brother Simon at the very start. As a keen cyclist, he has been actively involved in all the fundraising events and has visited West Africa to see the difference Futurestars has made to the local communities.
