Godwin Akladzi is the first recipient of the Futurestars Teachers Professional Development Programme Scholarship. At a recent event at Easton Grange in Suffolk, Futurestars director Simon Milton was approached by Dean Willingham from DPS Tech who has generously agreed to fund Godwin’s scholarship for the next four years. In addition to funding for all the online courses he needs, this month Simon was able to hand over a brand new laptop and bag, plus all the relevant software to Godwin.
Godwin’s journey with Future Leaders School began when he was just 13 years old as a student at the school. After completing his junior high and senior high school education, he returned to the school six years later as a volunteer teacher. Godwin has a passion for teaching but due to financial restrictions has been unable to start his formal training.
Despite this Godwin’s talent and remarkable work came to light when the first batch of final-year students he taught performed exceptionally well in their exams. His efforts were so impactful that officials from the Ghana Education Service visited the school to personally congratulate him. Godwin’s passion for teaching goes beyond the classroom; he regularly spends his weekends tutoring students to ensure they stay on top of their studies and succeed in the subjects he teaches.
