Libraries in both Twedaase Primary School and Community 8 Primary School in Tema have now been constructed with new shelving and ready to be stocked.
Our Ghana team organised a ‘Container Day’ to sort and select enough reading and textbooks for both schools to get started with their libraries. The container contains some 15,000 books (some already distributed) donated through our Schoolbooks to Africa campaign in conjunction with Copleston High School in Ipswich. We were delighted to be joined by our friends from the British High Commission, some children from the schools we support, and our ambassador Titus Bramble – there was a lot to sort!
Once the books had been selected, the team carried on sorting sports kits donated by clubs and individuals throughout the UK including Arsenal, Ipswich Town, Stoke City, and Norwich City. The majority of this kit will be donated to small community teams in and around Tema and Accra who need support, and some will be used by the children in our schools.
