CHARITY ASSOCIATES
Futurestars is always looking for partners to work with to help us achieve our goals. Some of the key organisations we work with currently are listed below:
Trashy Bags
trashybagsafrica.com
“We are Trashy Bags Africa, and we are proud to be a social enterprise making upcycled eco-friendly bags from discarded drinking water sachets that litter the streets of Accra, Ghana’s capital city, in West Africa. Trashy Bags Africa is leading the way in sustainable development in Africa, having collected and recycled over 30 million plastic sachets since we started in 2007.”
Trashy Bags have been a great friend to the charity and supplied many bags for the children to use. It’s a great initiative and one we are proud to be connected to.
GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE (GES)
We’ve worked closely with the GES since the first inception of Futurestars in 2015. The GES is primarily responsible for implementing the national education curriculum as part of the the Ministry of Education (MOE), a multiportfolio government ministry of Ghana, responsible for the government and management of Ghana’s education. The GES have helped us select the schools to work with and we consult with them on all new developments.
Ipswich Town Foundation
Ipswich Town Foundation
Following the success of the Tour of Suffolk Cycle Ride, and the aligned visions of both charities, we are delighted to announce a 2-year partnership between Futurestars charity and the Ipswich Town Foundation.
Both organisations are committed to engaging with young people through sport and education projects in underprivileged communities. The partnership will provide the opportunity for Ipswich Town Foundation coaches to visit Ghana and Togo, supporting the delivery of sessions and be immersed in local culture and regeneration projects while Futurestars staff and students will have the chance to gain invaluable work experience in Suffolk working with the Foundation.
The partnership will also see further large-scale events organised including a 2023 cycle ride (more details coming soon!) which will raise vital funds for both charities to continue their fantastic work in Suffolk and the surrounding counties and in West Africa.
British High Commission Football Team, Tema
@BHCFCGHANA
We have a strong relationship with the British High Commission in Ghana and in 2016 were introduced to the British High Commission Football Team. The team is an initiative started in 2013 that allows the High Commission to connect with other embassies, Ghanaian government departments, local authorities and most importantly grass roots teams based in Ghana.
Titus Bramble was honoured to represent the team (even scoring!) during a recent visit and Simon Milton presented the winning trophy to BHCFC during a recent victory over the US Embassy. Members of the team have supported the Futurestars annual Festival of Sport and are keen to get involved with Futurestars at an administrative level as well as lending moral support.
The team and their management (Ian Byrne and Simon Westlake) firmly believe that through football, comes unity.
Eolis Shipping (part of the Golden Exotics Company), Accra
Golden Exotics
Following a meeting in Accra between Simon, Ian Byrne and Ben Rich from Golden Exotics a partnership was formed between Futurestars and Eolis Shipping Ghana. The partnership allows the Charity to ship donated kit and sports equipment from the UK to Ghana on the Eolis vessels from Portsmouth free of charge as part of their own CSR commitments to Ghana.
“We are very committed to our CSR projects in all of the countries we farm in, the relationship with Futurestars is very much in line with our own commitments to the local community and supporting them with the shipping of donated goods is an ideal way for us to use the recourses we have at our disposal. The Eolis staff really enjoyed the recent day at Twedaase School where we were able to hand out the donated school bags and books to the children that we shipped using our vessels.” Ben Rich – MD Golden Exotics
Contain IT, Ipswich
CONTAIN IT
Ross Barnard from Contain IT in Ipswich was contacted by Simon to see if he could help with short-term storage in Ipswich for Kit collections. Ross was delighted to help and Futurestars have been storing kit with Ross ever since ready to be delivered to Fendercare Marine in Norfolk for packing and shipping to Ghana.
“We are very happy to offer Simon some of our storage space for the donated kit. When you see the quality of the kit and how much there is you get a complete understanding of the process from donating, collecting, sorting, packing and delivering to the port for shipping. We are very glad to be on board and support the great work of Futurestars and help the impact they are making in Ghana.” Ross Barnard
DHL, Ipswich
DHL Ipswich
Chris Garrard from DHL and Simon Milton go way back, back to the nineties when Chris was an Ipswich Town Fan and Simon was a player. When Simon contacted Chris to help with some transport to collect very large amounts of kit from clubs like Arsenal and Brighton, Chris was only too happy to help. DHL have been helping ever since as the donations of kit and equipment roll in, Simon heads up to the DHL HQ in Ipswich to borrow another van for collection. The generosity of Chris saves the charity a small fortune in van rentals and we are delighted to have them on board as our Associates.
“We are very pleased to support Simon and Futurestars, the charity has made great strides over the last few years and we are delighted to help in this small way. The fact that Simon does all of the driving and collecting himself shows his commitment to the charity and its charitable funds. If we can help him save money in the UK he will be able to use more funds in Ghana where they are needed most. A win-win as they say!” – Chris Garrard
Proveeda, Ipswich
PROVEEDA
We are delighted to be supported by Jeremy Nicholson at Proveeda Prestige cars in Ipswich who provide insurance for the Futurestars van every year. Proveeda was founded in 2005 by Jeremy Nicholson, who had the vision, drive and passion to set up the company. Proveeda’s role initially was to facilitate selling cars to sports professionals and high-net-worth individuals from the home office on the banks of the River Orwell.
“We are delighted to support Futurestars with the van insurance as our contribution to the Charity. We have known Simon & Titus for many years and provided Titus with his personal vehicles since his time at Ipswich Town in the late nineties. We believe the impact they are having with the charity Ghana is a very worthy cause and are proud of our association with them.” Jeremy Nicholson
